Intel's new eighth-generation processor family includes the fastest gaming processor ever produced.
(CCM) — Intel has taken the wraps off the latest generation of its Core processors, including its fastest ever gaming processor. The eighth generation Core processor family includes a new i7 desktop processor, Intel's first-ever six-core i5 desktop processor, and a new four-core i3 desktop processor.
The company claims that the new processors offer frame rate improvements of up to 25% compared to the previous generation processors and up to 65% faster editing in content creation compared with a three-year-old machine.
The new family of processors has been designed with gamers and computing enthusiasts in mind, and all can be overclocked to higher levels than previous generations, Intel says. A number of new overclocking features have been introduced, including per-core overclocking, maximum memory ratio up to 8,400 MT/s, real-time memory latency control, extended PLL trim controls, enhanced package power delivery, and updated IntelExtreme Tuning Utility and IntelExtreme Memory Profile, it says.
To run the new processors, Intel has also introduced the Intel X370 chipset. More than 50 new motherboard and systems designs featuring the X370 chipset will be available from vendors, the company promises.
The new eighth-generation Intel Core desktop processors will be available from October 5, 2017.
