Cortana gets integrated into Skype, giving users a slew of new abilities.
(CCM) — The battle of voice-enabled assistants has gotten tougher with Microsoft's addition of Cortana to Skype. Cortana will now be able to help users with video calls and present users with useful suggestions based on their chats. For example, Cortana can suggest users nearby eateries, landmarks, and even smart replies based on their chats. It can also set up reminders and schedule events during conversations. Users will also be able to have one-on-one chats with Cortana in Skype, with the virtual assistant showing up in their contacts.
Explaining the integration, Microsoft said, "In addition to being your 'behind-the-scenes' assistant, Cortana is also a contact in Skype. So now, you can have natural conversations in one-on-one chats with Cortana."
The integration has currently only rolled out in the U.S. to both Android and iOS platforms. Microsoft has not yet revealed the timeline for other regions to receive the update.
