This is a great app, however, its interface may seem confusing if you are not familiar with the platform.

Reddit, “the front page of the Internet”, is a social media platform that allows open discussion about various social and technical topics. With thousands of communities, it caters to almost every type of subject type, including books, games, music, and technology. You can also use it to discover the latest news, follow the latest trends, and enjoy the most popular memes. In this article, we discuss some of the Reddit app’s main features, as well as some additional information.

Key Features

Here are some of the Reddit app’s main features:

  • Community: no matter what series, technology, or shoes you are interested in, you will find the perfect community for you - Reddit covers almost every topic! This platform is a place where you can always learn new things.
  • Customize: to make your experience better, you can switch to the Night Mode of the app.
  • Gift exchanges: participate in gift exchanges with other Reddit users, such as the Secret Santa gift exchange.
  • Sync: you can synchronize your profiles on your different devices, whether you are an Android or an Apple user.

How Does Reddit Work?

Once you download and install the app, you have to create an account; you can choose between signing up with your email, with your Gmail account, or your Apple account. You can also choose to skip this step, but you won’t be able to post. Next, you will get to personalize your experience by choosing the sub-topics you are interested in - but this step is only optional. If you go through this step, the app will suggest some subreddits that you may want to follow or not. On the homepage, you will see the topics with the most ‘likes’ (arrows up), you can also ‘dislike’ topics (choose arrow down). You can search by topics or by communities. To post on Reddit, you have to choose the pencil icon and then select between posting a link, an image, a video, a text, or a poll. You have to enter a title and choose the Reddit community you want to post to. Sharing your experience will make you win fake Internet points that are called Karma.

If you find the interface too complicated, you can always opt for an app that makes Reddit's interface more intuitive.

Is Reddit Safe?

It seems that the app has no history of major data breaches and the traffic is encrypted. However, when it comes to the content of the app, you should keep in mind that Reddit was designed for adults, so there is an important amount of inappropriate content. The app is marked as suitable for 17 year-old and later.

Is The Reddit App Free?

You can download and use this app for free. There is also a Premium version (no ads) for $6.99 a month.

System Requirements

The required Android version to run the app varies with devices. For the Apple version, you need iOS/iPadOS 12.0 or later. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.
