Clubhouse: Drop-in Audio Chat is an invite only social network, currently in early beta. Clubhouse is a space for casual, drop-in audio conversations—with friends and other interesting people around the world. Go online anytime to chat with the people you follow, or hop in as a listener and hear what others are talking about. Clubhouse doesn't have pictures or live video of the speakers, and is like listening into a phone call with hundreds on people.
Moderator: If you start a room in Clubhouse, you are the moderator. You are the speaker with the ability to add or remove other speakers. You help guide the conversation and influence the content and conversation in the room.
Speaker: Speakers have the ability to talk in the room. By default, the moderator is the only speaker. Everyone else who joins starts as a simple listener, it is up to the moderator to invite someone to be a speaker.
Listener: When you join a Clubhouse conversation you enter as an audience member with your microphone muted. If you want to participate in the discussion you can raise your hand (the button to request to become a speaker).
If you want to join Clubhouse, you will need an invitation. You can get an invitation by joining the Clubhouse waitlist, or by asking an existing user for an invitation. See our dedicated article on how to get a Clubhouse invite.
