Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach is an innovative title of the frightening Five Nights at Freddy's franchise. It is an indie survival horror video game that takes place in a pizza restaurant chain called Freddy Fazbear's Pizza, where you will have to explore, be clever, and survive throughout the night.

Plot

In Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach, you will play as Gregory, a young boy trapped in Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex. This time, with the help of Freddy Fazbear, you will have to survive until dawn and not be killed by the evil animatronics, who will do everything they can to take you down. Throughout your journey, you will explore the Pizzaplex and discover the lore of the place, but watch out because you're not the hunter here but the prey.

Gameplay

  • Survive: Contrary to other FNaF titles where you had to survive five nights, this adventure is split into hourly sections, and you will now have to stay alive from 11:00 PM to 6:00 AM until the front doors open. To survive, you will have to explore all the parts of the Pizzaplex, use the security cameras to monitor the different places, whittle away the dark using your flashlight, and stay stealthy.
  • Face your foes: This time, you will have to face some familiar and also some new animatronics, including Foxy, Chica, Music Man, Vanny, Gator, the Daycare Attendant, Monty, and more. Each one has its own patrol patterns and abilities that you will need to learn if you want to survive. Remember that if one of them catches you, you will be killed and sent back to your last save point.

  • Team with Freddy: This time, Freddy Fazbear is not an enemy but a trustworthy ally that you can turn to your advantage to progress through the levels. In a few words, you can take control of Freddy's animatronic and inch your way without triggering other animatronics. But use Freddy wisely as it can only carry you for a limited time before recharging its batteries.
  • Explore: You can try to access all the different rooms at the beginning of the game, but some will remain locked until you find passes, so pay attention to gift boxes as they are crucial to progress through the game. And one last thing: even though it may be hard to explore all the different parts of the levels, you should know that they contain many references to other titles in the saga that are always worth the risk.

Graphics and sound

Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach is centered on its fun and addictive gameplay. Being an indie title, the visual aspect of the game may be considered less impressive by gamers who are used to playing high-budget games. However, it is clear that a lot of care has been put into the construction of the levels, the characters' models, the animations, and the cinematics. In terms of audio, Security Breach doesn't disappoint: the sound effects and music definitely contribute to the scary atmosphere in the game. As a result, it offers an excellent overall experience.

Duration and game modes

Even though the Five Nights at Freddy's fanbase has been begging for a multiplayer game mode for years, the franchise remains to be a solo adventure, and FNaF: Security Breach is no exception to that rule. It should take you approximately 10 hours to complete the game's main story, but well over 25 hours to explore everything the game has to offer.

What do the reviews say?

© Metacritic

The game has been rated Very Positive by over 30.000 players on Steam but has received a 64/100 rating on Metacritic.

"Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach is an excellent addition to the FNAF timeline, and also introduces a new approach to the title without feeling repetitive. New characters and terrors await each new player, and you don't need background knowledge to enjoy the game straight off the bat. Not only will you love this game, but you'll also for sure acquire some new nightmare fuel along the way". (KeenGamer)
