What is Steam? Steam is an online distribution platform mainly meant for games. In the beginning, it was reduced to its editor's game only. Nowadays, this application makes various kinds of more than a hundred thousand games available. In this article, we discuss some of Steam’s key features, as well as some additional information.

Key Features

Here are some of Steam’s main features:

  • No More Discs: There is no need for any disc which eliminates the possibility of a game not working because the disc was damaged.

  • All in One Place: In addition to the above, you no longer need to worry about misplacing serial numbers for games, as all of this information is contained within your Steam account.

  • Steam Chat: Another great thing about Steam, is the instant messaging client that makes you able to communicate with friends or to join them right in a game.

  • Steam Broadcast: With Steam streaming your gameplay live is a child’s play - you can do so with a simple click!

  • Early Access: There are games that are being developed with the community's involvement - this means that you can get early access and thus give your feedback while the game is still evolving.

How Does Steam Work?

Steam allows you to buy available games of your choice and to download them. Alternatively, there are hundreds of free-to-play options. To play any game, all you need to do is create an account (which is very quick and easy to do) and then download the game. Once the games are installed onto your PC you are ready to play!

Steam Sales

Steam offers regular sales. For example, there is an upcoming sale from May 27th to 31st, 2021 at 10am PDT.

Is Steam Safe?

It seems that the app has no history of security issues. As always, we recommend reading the official Privacy policy in order to take note of the way Steam uses your data.

You should keep in mind that just as everywhere on the Web, you should pay attention to scammy links and who you add as a friend.

Is Steam Free?

You can download and use Steam for free. However, even if there are some free Steam games, you still have to pay for commercial ones.

For the Steam download, click on the green button at the top of the page.
