Ubuntu - Unable to stream videos with Firefox




Issue


I just installed Ubuntu 9.04, but since yesterday I can no longer watch online videos (Facebook, Youtube) ...

Solution


Remove the flash plugin:
  • sudo apt-get autoremove -y --purge flashplugin-nonfree gnash gnash-common mozilla-plugin-gnash swfdec-mozilla libflashsupport
  • sudo rm -f /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/*flash* ~/.mozilla/plugins/*flash* /usr/lib/firefox/plugins/*flash* /usr/lib/firefox-addons/plugins/*flash*

Close your browser:
  • sudo killall -9 firefox  


Download and install Flash player(archive) from this link:
