Compaq Presario CQ60 won't turn on

Like any other laptop computer the Compaq Presario CQ60 can run into issues while starting up. Sometimes, after a forced shutdown it may happen that the computer does not turn on when pressing the power button. A user may also notice the fan buzzing along with LED lights switching on. These symptoms, along with a blank display, could point to a potential issue with the RAM. This issue can be solved by taking out the RAM from the slot of Compaq Presario CQ60 and then by cleaning it thoroughly. After that, one should place the RAM back in the slot. If the computer still does not turn on then it could point to a RAM failure.

I have a Compaq Presario CQ60 (running on factory-built in Windows Vista Home OEM) and it will not turn on anymore. I will try to explain my problem and how it happened, so please bear with me :)

Today, my laptop was on hibernation mode (with monitor flipped down), and when I wanted to start it again, it took a long time to come back on (around 5 minutes). I thought it was just a freeze, because there were some applications running when I closed the monitor (which activates hibernation), so I pressed the power button for a hard shutdown.

However when I turned it on again through the Power button, I heard the fan buzzing and LED lights were on, BUT the screen was blank and didn't show anything. I connected my desktop monitor and nothing was displayed there either. I tried the different pieces of advice found here, such as removing the battery, removing the power source, pressing the Power button for 30+ seconds, but nothing has worked so far.

If you notice that your CPU fan is running but there is no display in the screen, take out the RAM, clean it and place it back properly or try another slot. Check your RAM also. A failing RAM will result in display problems.
