Ubuntu - create a root password

To access all the advanced features of Ubuntu, you must be recognized as root and the root password must be used.
  • For this, simply open the console and type the following command:
    • $ sudo passwd root 
  • In this command, you must enter the appropriate info:
    • password: The user password- created during installation
    • New Unix Password: The root password
    • Repeat Unix Password: Repeat Password
  • To log-in as root
  • Type the following command:
  • $ su 
  • password: enter the password created
