Windows Vista - Windows Explorer stopped working




Issue


While I was browsing the web, Windows Explorer suddenly crashed and since then even upon restarting my PC, I can"t get it back.

Solution

  • Go to "Computer", right-click > select "Properties" > "Advanced system settings".
  • In the Performance section, click on "Settings" > "DEP > "Turn on DEP except for" > Add the "Windows explorer" file.
  • It's located in:
  • C:/ users / your session name / AppData / Roaming / microcrosoft / windows / Start Menu / Programs
