Windows 7 - Unable to run 16-bit application

April 2018

I'm getting the following error message with a 16-bit application:
"This is a 16-bit application and you do not have permission to execute 16-bit programs."

  • Start -> Run, type regedit.exe .
  • Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Windows \ AppCompat
  • Look for VDMDisallowed and set its value to 0.
