In studios like Pixar, the creation of 3D imagery on the computer mean 3D graphics software is used widely. The plugins that professionals use for this purpose are expensive but fortunately other online graphics software is available. These applications have great features like animation tools, texture mapping and even come with options for full motion videos. Depending on your operating system, you should choose the graphics software carfully to avoid compatibility issues. Popular 3D graphics softwares available online include Art of Illusion and Blender that work with Windows, Linux and MAC OS X. POV Ray, Calimax Modeler, Genesis 3D editor and Z modeler work only on Windows.

Professional 3D computer-generated imagery created by studios like Warner Bros or Pixar are generated by 3D computer graphics softwares. However, studios make use of expensive high-end plugins compared to the available online softwares.

Some 3D graphic softwares can be used to produce different entities of the real-world. The models created can be designed and viewed through different angles and zoomed in and out. The most common features present in these softwares include tools for animation, full motion videos and texture mapping options.
