Minecraft - Error message: Internal exception: java.net.SocketException

April 2018

Each time I try to play Minecraft online, the following error message is displayed:
  • "Internal exception: java.net.SocketException: Connection reset by peer: socket write error".

This problem is due to the files remaining from your previous version of Java installed on your machine.
In fact when you remove old versions of Java, some folders are not automatically deleted.
  • Click on Start > Run
  • Type: %appdata%
  • Look for the "Sun" folder.
  • It contains the installation folders of the previous version of Java.
  • Clear the obsolete ones.
  • Update Java.

Thanks to jeremierd for this tip.
