Discover the Milky Way via your web browser

April 2018

After the Earth and its oceans, Google offers to discover the stars via their web browser. An ambitious project named 100,000 Stars allows you to navigate throughout the Milky Way and its thousands of stars.

Via 100000 Stars you can view the main stars of our galaxy, locate and learn more about them. In the same way as Google Maps, it is possible to zoom in or out on a specific region and explore all the surrounding stars.

The project was set up in partnership with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the European Space Agency (ESA). This 3D web platform works on all browsers that support WebGL technology, CSS3D, and Web Audio.
