Windows 8 - Disable the virtual keyboard


How to prevent the virtual keyboard from being displayed when opening text documents on a touch screen PC (running Windows 8).


To disable the virtual (on-screen) keyboard:
  • Go to the Computer Management (Right-click in the bottom left cornerof your screen.)
  • In the Computer Management window go to Services.
  • Then look for the following line "Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service"
  • Right click > Properties > Stop the service.
