Windows 8- Add the Java icon to the system tray




If you want Windows 8 to display the Java tray icon, each time Java is being used by your webbrowser, follow the below procedure:
  • Press Windows + X and select "Control Panel".
  • Click on "Programs" > "Java"
  • The Java Control panel shall open.
    • Go to the Advanced tab and scroll to the Miscellaneous section:
    • Check "Place Java icon in system tray".
  • Click on Apply.
