Windows 8.1 - Allow the indexing of encrypted files

To enable the indexing of encrypted files under Windows 8.1 (which can be very useful when your entire drive is encrypted), follow the below procedure:
  • Open the Control Panel.
  • Go to System and Security > Review your computer's status > View Performance information.
  • Click on "Adjust indexing options".
  • In the dialog that opens up, click on Advanced > Index settings and check "Index encrypted files":
  • Click on Ok to validate.
