MacOSX - How to disable the Time Machine Local Backups (Snapshots)?



To disable this feature under MacOSX, follow the below procedure:
  • Open a terminal.
  • Enter the following command:
    sudo tmutil disablelocal
  • Enter your Admin password (if prompted).
  • Restart your Mac.


To enable Time Machine snapshots again, simply use this command:
sudo tmutil enablelocal
