Windows 8.1 - How to restore your system?

This article explains how to restore your system, create, configure and delete a restore point in Windows 8.1. Windows 8.1 will automatically create restore points on your computer at regular intervals. These restore points contain information about registry and system settings used by Windows. You can also create restore points manually. The System Restore feature helps you restore your computer system files to an earlier point in time, without affecting your personal files.

How to restore your system?

  • Press Windows + X > Control Panel.
  • Then go to File History.
  • Select the Recovery option (lower-left corner).
  • Select "Open System Restore".

  • Select your restore point and follow the on-screen instructions.
