OneDrive for Windows 8.1 - How to disable offline file access


If you don't want to keep a local copy of the data uploaded to your OneDrive account, follow the below procedure:

Method 1

  • From the StartScreen launch the OneDrive app.
  • Press Windows key + C to launch the Charms Bar > Settings > Options.
  • Click on "Make all files online-only".

Method 2

  • Right-click on the OneDrive tray icon > Properties.
  • Uncheck "Make all files available even when this PC isn't connected to the Internet".
  • Click on "Make all files online-only".
  • Click on Ok to validate.
