Intro


Disable paging on Linux



Under Linux, swap (pagefile) is used if your RAM is unsufficient (if the RAM is really running out) . But once the RAM is free, the swap is still active.
  • If for any reason you want to disable the use the command (as root):
    • swapoff -a
    • This may take a few moments.
  • To activate swap again use the following command:
    • swapon -a
