When playing an audio file, Windows Vista prompt you with one of the following messages:

No audio device 
```
```
No audio device is installed 
```
```
No audio output device is installed 
```
```
No mixer device is available
```

Solution

This simply means that Windows can not find drivers for your soundcard. To remedy this, simply follow the following procedure:

Open Device Manager by clicking Start/Run (or Windows key + R) and entering the following command:
- ```
devmgmt.msc
```
- In the window that opens and click on the name of the computer.
- In the Action menu, click Check for hardware changes.
This will reinstall the drivers for your sound card.
