Acrobat Tips - Insert a photo in a pdf

Adobe Acrobat PDF files are not meant to be edited. However, users might want to make changes in the document to insert a photo in a PDF, for example.There is no need to go back to the original authoring program to make changes to the PDF document. It is possible to insert a photo in a PDF by using the Watermark option in Acrobat. Once the photo is inserted, its attributes, such as appearance and position, can be adjusted before saving the PDF file.There is third party office software that is available which can insert a photo in a PDF for you.


I want to insert a scanned photo into a PDF document using Adobe Acrobat.


  • In the toolbar, go to "Document" > "Watermark" > "Add"
  • Use the Browse button to search for the photo you wish to add
  • The "Appearance and Position" options will allow you to manipulate the photo
