How To Disable Media Previews on Skype

This article will walk you through how to turn off media previews that are automatically generated when a photo or video is sent to you on Skype. Note that this tip applies to the desktop version of Skype.

Disable Image & Video Previews on Skype

Open Skype and click on the Tools menu > Options. Then go to IM & SMS > IM Appearance.

Clear the checkbox that reads Show images and other media previews:

To save your settings, click on Save, and exit the Options menu.

From this point forward, when a contact sends you a media file, you will see a blue box similar to the below:
