Ubuntu -Disabling recent document list



To disable the list of recent documents available via the Shortcut menu:
  • First clean out the document history file and rebuilt it:
    • Open a terminal and type the following command:
    • rm ~/.recently-used.xbel
  • To recreate this file:
    • touch ~/.recently-used.xbel
  • To disable this option:
    • sudo chattr +i ~/.recently-used.xbel
  • If you want to reactivate the recent documents use the following command:
    • sudo chattr -i ~/.recently-used.xbel
