For most of us, WhatsApp remains the preferred messaging service for us to keep in touch with loved ones. The world’s most popular instant messaging app has now also made it possible to make group video calls and in this article, we’ll explain the steps how to do it.
There is a growing trend of people video calling relatives and colleagues and as such options have multiplied both for PC and the phone or tablet with Messenger, Skype, Meet, Zoom, Facetime, Discord…the possibilities are endless!
Unlike many of its competitors, WhatsApp limits the number of video call participants to four, a decision that at first might seem strange but in fact, hides certain advantages. Firstly, the more participants in a video call, the more difficult it is to maintain an understandable conversation. Secondly, because the dimensions of a mobile screen are limited, it’s not really suitable for large meetings (and WhatsApp is after all, a messaging service for smartphones primarily).
As mentioned at the beginning of this article, WhatsApp is not the only option for making group video calls. If for whatever reason you are not convinced, try one of these other apps instead.
