How To Fix Lenovo Thinkpad that Won't Power On

April 2018

Lenovo's Thinkpad laptops are fairly powerful computers that are great for both professional and personal use.

If you've found yourself with a Thinkpad that won't power on, this FAQ will walk you through how to fix it. Sometimes, fixing a laptop that won't turn on on its own is simply a matter of removing the battery pack and replacing it. Try this, then try to turn on the PC by pressing the power button.

If this doesn't work, unplug the power cord, and remove both the battery and the RAM from their designated slots. Hold the power button for 60 seconds, then put the RAM back into its slot. Plug the laptop back in, try to turn the laptop on, then put the battery back into the laptop. It should now power on without a problem.
