Port Number to Another Telecom Operator
Here is the process that you will need to follow in order to port your mobile phone number.
Generate Unique Porting Code ID
To initiate the MNP process, begin composing a new message and type PORT Mobile Number
. Send the message to 1900
Soon afterward, you will receive an eight-digit porting code from the phone number 1901
Collect Important Documents
Next, you will need to provide proof of your identity, proof of address, and a passport-sized photograph of yourself.
You can prove your identity by submitting a copy of one of the following documents: your driver's license, your passport, your Aadhaar card, your Voter ID card, or your PAN card.
For the proof of address, you can provide an electricity bill, your rent agreement, a phone bill, or a copy of your bank passbook.
Visit Network Provider's Showroom
Next, you need to visit your network provider's showroom to fill out a customer acquisition form. You will also need to provide your unique porting code to the store executive along with your photograph and proof documents.
Select Your Monthly Tariff
Next, you will need to choose your monthly plan. Telecom companies offer tempting monthly packages to users who are porting their mobile phone numbers.
Choose a monthly plan according to your requirements of internet usage, call allowance, and SMS consumption. You will be given a new SIM card from the store once you have selected one.
The processing time of your application depends on the telecom companies that you are dealing with. However, it generally takes between 7 hours and 15 days. Throughout the process, you will be regularly notified by SMS of its status.
Change SIM Card
You can continue to use your existing SIM card until it stops working, which generally happens between 10 PM and 5 AM. Once it starts showing No Signal
, you can replace the old SIM card with your new one.
