If you are an Indian citizen and 18 years old or more as of 1 Jan. 2019, you should apply for the voter ID card
as soon as possible. The card works as a valid identification and address proof. The Indian government sets up various camps to enable people to apply for the voter id cards. However, if you are unable to go to those camps, you can apply for voter identification cards from your home. It might be remembered that the general elections are scheduled to be held in 2019.
Documents Required for Voter Id Card Application
It is important to be aware of the documents that are required for applying for a voter identification card. It would be useful if the applicant gets the soft copy of these documents before start filling the online application. Two kinds of documents are required in this process.
Documentary Evidence for Age
- Birth certificate released by the Municipality or any other Indian government institution.
- Indian passport
- Permanent account number (PAN) Card
- Indian driving license.
Documents Required for Address Proof
- Bank account passbook that contains the address of the applicant
- Passbook from Kisan Bank or Indian post office
- Ration Card
- Indian passport
- Indian driving Licence
- Income-tax assessment order
- Rent agreement
- Phone, electricity or water bills
- Any letter that has been sent to the applicant’s address by the post office.
Apart from these documents, a scanned copy of applicant's passport size photograph is also required.

On this page the applicant has to select the language from the dropdown menu of Select Language
After this, the applicant has to start filling up the whole application form. The information you are providing should match the documents. The process will take up to 15 minutes. If the applicant has a good internet connection, uploading the scanned documents should not be a problem. After having filled the form, the applicant has to click on the Submit
Once submitted, it may take time of up to 15 days to process the application and issue the voter identification card.
