If you are an Indian citizen and 18 years old or older as of Jan. 1 2019, you should apply for your voter ID card
as soon as possible. The card works as a valid form of identification and proof of address and will enable you to vote in the 2019 general elections. The Indian government has begun setting up various centers where you may apply for your voter ID card. However, if you are unable to go to one of those centers, you can apply for your Indian voter identification card online

Documents Required for Voter ID Card Application
It is important to be aware of the documents that are required for applying for a voter identification card. You should prepare digital copies of these documents before you start the process.
There are two types of documents that you will need for the application: proof of age and proof of address.
Documentary Evidence for Proof of Age
Documents that are accepted as proof of your age include: a birth certificate released by your Municipality or any other Indian government institution, an Indian passport, your permanent account number (PAN) Card, or an Indian driver's license.
Documents Required for Proof of Address
Documents that are accepted as proof of your age include: a bank account passbook that contains your address; a passbook from the Kisan Bank or the Indian post office; a ration card; an Indian passport; an Indian driver's license; an income-tax assessment order; a rent agreement; phone, electricity or water bills; or any letter that has been sent to your address by the post office.
Apart from these documents, a scanned copy of a passport-sized photograph of you is also required.
Apply Online for Voter ID Card
To apply for your voter ID card online, visit the National Voter Services Portal
. Once at the website, click Apply online for registration of new voter/due to shifting from AC
Then, go to the NVSP form 6 page
On this page, select your language from the Select Language
After this, begin filling in the whole application form. The information that you are providing should match your proof documents.
The process can take up to 15 minutes. If you have a good internet connection, uploading your scanned documents should not be a problem.
After you have filled in the form, click the Submit
Once submitted, your application may take up to 15 days to process, after which you will receive your voter ID card (if it is accepted).
