Playstation 3 from the stable of Sony is a leading video game console which is used across the world. Playstation, or PS3, gives users the flexibility to compete with gamers using the online play mode. It uses the internet connection to support online game play. Sometimes however, one may observe connectivity issues during online game play. The common belief is that this is caused by a network problem. Most often, however, this is not because of the network, but rather an issue with the router
. One should try connecting directly with the modem to check if the router is causing the issue
, and then apply an appropriate solution based on this diagnostic test.
Fixing Your PS3 Network Connection
This is a small tip from the forum for those having connection interruptions during game play on their PS3.
If you are using a router (no matter what brand), the problem probably has to do with the router. In order to find out, disconnect your PS3 from the router and plug it directly into your modem. If your modem is far away from your playstation, consider moving it.
Most modems plug directly into your cable line, so there is a good chance that the television you are using to play your PS3 on has a cable connection.
- Once you have connected your PS3 to your modem, press the reset button on the modem.
- Turn on your PS3 and go directly to your network settings
- Click on Internet Connection Test (do not bother trying to set up a connection manually, if you do this chances are that you will mess something up)
- If you are getting a connection then you are ready to go
There is a good chance you may never get a connection interruption again.
To sum up, it is not your Playstation or your Internet Service Provider that is giving you problems. It is your router. It often happens, so you should try to find a router that works well with gaming.
