Configuring your Nokia N97 for emailing



Here are the basic steps to configure email services on your N97
Menu> Messaging> Options> Settings> emails


Yahoo Account Settings

Incoming e-mail:

  • username:my email address
  • password:my password
  • Incoming mail server:pop.mail.yahoo.com
  • access point used: **
  • box type: POP3
  • Security: SSL/TLS
  • Port: 995
  • APOP secure login: Enabled

Outgoing e-mail:

  • username: my email address
  • password: my password
  • Outgoing mail server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
  • access point used: **
  • Security: SSL/TLS
  • Port: 465

Outgoing e-mail

  • username: my email address
  • password: my password
  • Outgoing mail server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com
  • access point used: **
  • Security: SSL/TLS
  • Port: 465

Hotmail Account Settings

Incoming e-mail

  • username: my email address
  • password: my password
  • Incoming mail server: pop3.live.com
  • access point used:**
  • box type: POP3
  • security: ssl/tls
  • Port: Default
  • APOP secure login: disabled

Outgoing e-mail:

  • username: my email address
  • password: my password
  • Outgoing mail server: smtp.live.com
  • access point used: **
  • Safety: starttls
  • Port: Default

Notes


It then remains to be configure: "User Settings", "Recovery Settings" and "Automatic Connection" to your preferences.

Note that for the access point used it will solely depend on the ISP your are using.
