Winrar - Tutorial




Introduction


WinRAR is a compression/decompression software known for its efficiency and offering the possibility of repairing corrupted archives, but it is not free (limited free version).

Installation

  • Once you have downloaded Winrar or Winrar 64bit, run the installation program.
  • The installation will start. You must first select the installation directory.
  • Personally, I prefer to leave the default directory C:\Program Files\WinRAR.

Post-installation

  • After installing WinRAR, the Setup window shall be displayed
  • Winrar associate with: the types of files to automatically open with Winrar - it is best to check all (default)
  • Interface: the locations where you want a Winrar shortcut.
  • Shell integration: add Winrar to the context menu.

Click on Finish to finalize the installation,

Unzip files

  • Right-click on any archive and choose how you want to extract the files

Split into volumes

  • Right click on the folder you want to compress and select "add to the archive."
  • Enter a value (in Bytes KB, etc ...) to set the size of the archive, or select a predefined size as a CD, DVD etc ...).

Protect your archives with a password

  • Right click on the folder you want to compress and select "add to the archive."
  • In the General tab, click on "Set password":

Repair an archive

  • Open Winrar and look for your corrupted archive:
  • Click on Repair.
