Among the many possibilities to customize your Instagram stories, you can insert a link that leads to any website. Many companies and artists have adopted this strategy to improve traffic and sales on their website. In this article we'll fill you in on how to add a link in your story.
N.B.: This feature is only available for verified accounts. This primarily includes celebrities, brands, and other profiles with at least 10,000 followers. However, it seems that Instagram is gradually making it available to other users.
1) Create a story as usual, this article will tell you how to do that should you be unsure. Take a photo or video, or choose one from the gallery on your phone. At the top you should see a small chain icon. Click on it:
2) On the next screen, paste or type the URL you want to share. Then confirm and continue creating your story. Once published, viewers will be able to visit the linked website by swiping up.
If you've followed the steps above and you do not see the option to add a link, this means it has yet not been enabled by Instagram for your account. As we previously mentioned, this feature is normally reserved for verified accounts, but it seems to be gradually rolling out to others at random. But not to worry, there are two more possibilities: request account verification or add the site link in your profile. For the later, here's how to get started:
1) Access your profile and click on Edit profile:
2) In the website field, enter the link you want to add on your profile, and to save your changes click done in the upper right:
Now visitors to your profile will see that link and can click on it to directly access the site. In order to increase visits, remember to add a mention the site you added to your profile in your posts and stories. You can mention "link in bio," for example.
