Windows XP - No audio device found on Dell A860

Issue

I have upgraded my a860 dell notebook with xp.when i play music in media player, it's saying no audio device found what can i do ?

Solution

Actually Dell never made provision to allow you upgrade or downgrade XPand the same goes for the correct drivers and OS patch on the installation CD.

You need to follow these steps:
  • 1. Go to this link and download "kb888111xpsp2.exe"
  • 2. After downloading the file, run the exe and follow the installation instructions.
  • 3. The patch allows your OS to recognize the High Definition Audio Device.
  • 4. Install the Drivers that were shipped with your laptop:
    • R190096 (Conexant Audio)
    • R190098 (Conexant Modem)

Good Luck
