Microsoft Money - restore a file on Windows 7.

Issue

Ive'been using Microsoft Money for some time (on XP and Vista) and now I've moved to Windows 7.
I've been able to install Money but I can't import the backup made on the prior Window's version,

I have a message prompting me that the backup is a read-only file(the box is not checked yet).

Solution

  • Make a right click on the Money shorcut and click on "Run as administrator"
  • Try creating a bogus file (account, username...etc).
  • Once the file is created, the interface opens and there is a popup that appears, prompting you to update the software.
  • Perform the update and then you try to import your backup file.
