Ubuntu - Numeric Keypad disabled at start-up

Issue

Upon booting Ubuntu, I've noticed that the numeric Keypad has been disable!
Is there any solution to enable it?

Solution

  • To activate the keypad, you must edit the "Default" file.
    • Open a terminal and type:
    • gksudo gedit /etc/gdm/Init/Default
  • Confirm with Enter and type your password.
    • At the beginning of the file add:

if [ -x /usr/bin/numlockx ] ; then
/usr/bin/numlockx on
fi
  • Now the keypad should be active at Ubuntu start up.
