Error Codes 1601 and 1603

Users wanting to use Windows Live Messenger can get an error code during the installation of the software. Users may not realize that the Windows installer they have been using has been corrupted. In order to keep their PCs in good condition and free from error codes, users can download a particular installer to get rid of such error codes. To begin the process, the user has to click on the start menu and then run. In the run command, the user has to type unreg/msiexec. The next step is to click on the OK button. If during the installation of software through an .msi extension, such as Windows Live Messenger, you get one of these errors, it is probably because Windows installer is corrupted.
Try this:
Download the Windows installer, here or on the official site:

Re-install the software installs via the Windows command line:
  • Click on the Start menu,
  • Then Run,
  • Type: msiexec /unreg (there's a space between msiexec and /unreg)
  • Click OK,
  • Repeat the operation with the following command msiexec /regserver

Repairing windows:
  • Insert the Windows installation CD-ROM
  • Click on the Start menu,
  • Then Run,
  • Type: SFC /Scannow
  • Click OK and follow the steps.
