Password entry space limited

I have a Windows XP laptop and for wireless connection it uses Intel PROSet/Wireless Connection Utility. It connects fine to available wireless connections. Upon clicking desired network when it requests Device Ownership Password it only allows only 8 spaces when the device password is actually longer. In addition it only allows from keyboard the number keys but no letters are allowed. Thus, Impossible to connect to network. What should I do to correct problem?
