Dell inspiron.windows 10.
Tried the trick of turning off and holding down start button. This worked once And not again. Lasted about 10 min.

Everything else seems to be functioning. Files come up and I can work. Concerned that some thing else is lurking around.

Hard drive was replaced a couple of months ago.

What's next to try? And /or what's causing the problem?

Thanks for your help

Thank you
When it boots up normally, start a command prompt with admin privilages, and type in sfc /scannow

See what is reported, and post back.

Well I tried the other trick again and the screen reappeared. I'm not sure the problem is actually solved yet. And the computer is behaving for now. Next time it gives me black i will try your suggestion. Thank you.

Thank you for the update. Do not wait for it to act up again! This will identify any problems and correct them before they happen!
