I have an HP laptop running Windows 10. I have deleted the drivers, reloaded new drivers. The Realtek speakers/headphones are set to default. The speakers work but the headphones do not. It is as if the computer does not recognize that the jack is plugged in. Any advice?

Thank you
Go to Control Panel
click on Hardware and Sound
click on Sound
then you devices should come up ; speakers, Digital Audio, and headphones
plug your headphones in
then select headphones
at the bottom it will say set as default
select that!!
then when you disconnect your headphones it automatically switches to the speakers and when you plug them back in it automatically will switch to headphones!!

Thank you, Ambucias 1

Thank you
Ok I followed the advice above and found that the Realtek speakers/headphones were the default and I plugged in the headphones and they worked. This was the first time that they worked in maybe two months. Now two days later, they do not work even though the settings are the same. The sound comes out of the speakers even when the headphones are plugged in.
Please help
