Leaving a Copied Cell Blank if no data

I have several spreadsheets containing different information on the same patient. Patient is ID a number. The ID has to copy over to several different sheets. I have gotten it to copy with a cut and paste formula. However, if there is no data in the original space (patient number) then a 0 appears in the column on the other sheets. Is there any way to keep the cell blank if the original cell is empty?
