Prompted for "current PIN" in Android mail App

Upon trying to access my Yahoo mail using my Android app, the system prompted me for a "current PIN" which I don't recall ever setting up. I am able to access my Yahoo email account on my laptop Chrome browser and using the browser on my phone; just not using the app on my Android phone.

I looked at the account features on my laptop and couldn't find information on how to access my PIN, or on how to create a new PIN. I'm not sure whether going through the password change process would address this issue or not.

My question: how to I do one of: (a) bypass the PIN question; (b) find out what my current PIN is; OR (c) create a new PIN?

Separately, why does my Android App suddenly need this PIN, when I've not been asked for it before, and while I continue to have access to my Yahoo mail acct when using my Chrome browser?
