Unable to log into Facebook messenger on PC

Hello,

I'm a FB messenger user without a FB account, who signed up with a phone number. This was years ago and I no longer have that number (although I know the number!)

I have just got a new laptop and want the app back on my desktop. I dont have an email account associated with the messenger account. My phone is currently still logged into the account and I've gone through all the options to try and find a way to access the same account from my laptop.

This happened once before years ago and I believe I gained access by just entering my old phone number and password. This doesn't seem to be working anymore.

When I click "forgot password" and it asks for a phone number it doesn't recognize either my current or previous number and just says "this number is not connected to any account"

I have contacted FB messenger support multiple times, without any luck.

I've resulted to using the windows app that connects to my android phone and allows me to open the messenger app that way, but that solution doesn't really work for me long term.

I'm at my wits' end here, does anyone know what else I can do?
