I regularly run into issues where I try to open a site and my computer takes ages to load the page. And I'm talking 1996 dial-up modem from hell ages. I have a wifi router (Asus RT-N66U Dark Knight) that's supposed to be pretty solid and my package with my internet provider offers 75Mbit/s download and 7.5 Mbit/s uploads. I just have no idea what field of networking I need to look into to diagnose this issue and would appreciate any hint.
One thing I have noticed is that whenever my connection sucks and I switch from my 5Ghz to the 2.4Ghz Wifi (the router allows me to set up different ones) that seems to remedy the issue temporarily. Might I need a different router firmware?
In any event, I would like to learn which tools will enable me to diagnose the bottleneck.
Thanks!
