Cannot restere whatsapp Old messages

Hello,
I have logged out and in to my iCloud account on iPhone , after deleting and while installing whatsapp , once the app asks if i want to restore back up , i Said yes , Then it says no back up to restore, i clicked skip , and i could not see any Old messages..‘what could be reason for this, and what to do to recover my Old messages, with same iCloud account
