Error message: unsupported signal

Hello,
I have a Lenovo laptop with an HDMI connection and a Toshiba projector with VGA connection. I am using an HDMI to VGA converter but I keep getting an error message" unsupported signal". Therefore there is no output. I pressed the f7 key to duplicate the image but I am still getting nothing. What do I do? I really need your help.

System Configuration: Windows / Chrome 97.0.4692.71
