Instagram messenger update isn't available

I can't update my Instagram direct to messenger on my Samsung S20. My account is fairly new since my old one got hacked, but my old account had messenger and I never had a single issue with it, even on this phone, which doesn't make any sense. I've tried everything suggested online to uninstalling, syncing with Facebook, reporting a big, and none of it has worked. I'm very frustrated and I want to update it. I can't request my Instagram data either, is there anything I can do to fix this problem?
