Backup to disk google not possible

Hello,

I buy a new phone with new sim telephone number. On my old phone I change WhatsApp number to new one, but when I log into the new phones WhatsApp account, there IS no history and no contacts. So I try to make a backup to disk google on my old phone, but I get a message that a backup is not possible, try again later? Can You help me? Why im not able to backup to disk google?

always maintain 3 external copies of everything on separate drives or cloud. Ive had the experience of losing everything luckily it was many years ago but still sucked.

Also the cost of HDD are so cheap it's crazy not to.
