MY COMPUTER WONT SEE MY IPOD!

OK, I'm going on a week long trip, no computer. and i just download $30 of songs on itunes! i connected my ipod to my computer and it they didn't recognize each other. i my ipod was charging, but it didnt show that it was! I then connected it to my dad's computer(with the same cord), witch did.
I plugged it back into mine, and a window popped up that said FOUND NEW HARDWARE WIZARD. it told me that i didn't have the necessary hard ware! HELP!!!

Dear Shady,

Please consider checking whether the problem is not simply coming from the USB port from the Device Manager.
