Need a batch script

Hello,
I am new to batch programming would like to create a batchfile to compare
a) contents of a text file (ie filenames) from one folder
with
b) the filenames from a different folder depending upon current date.(Comparison between a text file and a folder).
Although I have created atext file that gives a list of filenames but I am finding it difficult to extract filenames from another folder for files of current date only.
Any help will definately reduce my workload to an extent.
